邁入第二十八屆的AHFA是澳洲最具代表性的美髮大獎，由英國電器品牌dyson主要贊助，今年的AHFA頒獎典禮於11月8日在雪梨月神公園揭開序幕，這是AHFA開辦二十八年來首度將大秀搬上線上直播，讓全球美髮人能同步觀賞這場澳洲指標性的美髮大獎，現場共有三百位VIP受邀參加，其餘上百位的入圍者和美髮人則在線上一同共襄盛舉。

因疫情影響，今年的典禮現場與會人數不及往年，但各地髮型師們仍守在螢幕前關注著整場大典，面對今年的特殊景象，AHFA的創辦人David Mannah在典禮上說:

「美髮和時尚產業都因疫情而面臨了巨大的挑戰，但我們看到所有美髮人彼此團結、互相扶持成就了今天這場充滿創新的盛會，我想透過典禮來和大家一起慶祝這樣的精神。」

本屆的AHFA由曾獲Miss World Australia澳洲小姐的Erin Holland 擔任大典主持人，紅毯主持則由在澳洲頗具名氣的網紅二人組SketchShe搭檔，頒獎典禮結合時尚、髮秀和音樂表演相當有看頭，不僅現場氣氛熱絡，在各地透過網路連線的髮型師也透過直播留言展現熱情，未能到場的得獎的髮型師也紛紛連線與大家分享得獎感言。

2020 AHFA從去年九月開始徵件，超過上百位澳洲設計師和沙龍爭相參與，並在今年由業界髮型大師進行評選，最終共頒發26個獎項，年度最大獎 Australian Hairdresser of the Year澳洲年度髮型師由墨爾本Xiang Hair沙龍的 Jamie Furlan奪得；Joey Scandizzo獲Salon Business of the Year年度最佳沙龍經營Renya Xydis獲Digital Influencer of the Year最具數位影響力髮型師，完整名單請見以下。
