THE MUSES SS13
INTRODUCTION
For the Ancient Greek poet the muse was a powerful figure, pivotal in the creative process when invoked as a source of artistic inspiration. This season Sassoon Academy presents three new visions of this ancient force; Iris inspired by the rebellious socialite Nancy Cunard, her fictional counterpart Iris Storm and the couture ateliers of 1920s Paris; Soho-Boho, a contemporary version of the writer Caroline Blackwood, wife of painter Lucien Freud who could be found roistering in the Bohemian dive bars of forties Soho and Ye-Ye, a futuristic interpretation of Vidal Sassoon’s sixties muse Peggy Moffitt set in a cyber-cityscape inspired by the architect Salvatore Calatrava.
